Mercedes-Benz service in Athens, from people who know the brand

Mercedes-Benz builds a solid car. Still, some parts wear in ways we know well. James Miner, our owner, is an ASE Master Technician. He has worked on foreign cars since 1972.

One customer brought us an E320 that would not start. We found the cause and got it running again. Call 706-353-3880. We will do the same for you.

Owner tip: Use the oil grade Mercedes-Benz calls for and change it on time. Watch for a low stance on one corner in the morning. That points to an air strut leak. Have the transmission fluid changed every 40,000 miles or so. Fresh fluid protects the conductor plate.

Common Mercedes-Benz problems we fix

Airmatic suspension leaks

Airmatic is the air ride system on many Mercedes-Benz models. The air struts and the compressor wear out. The car sags on one corner overnight. We replace the leaking part and test the whole system.

7-speed transmission conductor plate

The 7-speed automatic has a conductor plate inside. It holds the sensors that tell the gearbox what to do. When it fails, the car gets stuck in one gear. We replace the plate and the fluid.

Oil cooler seals

The oil cooler sits under the intake on many V6 engines. Its seals shrink and let oil into the engine valley. You may smell hot oil or see a drip. We replace the seals and clean the area.

Rust on older models

Some older Mercedes-Benz cars rust in the wheel wells and under the doors. Georgia humidity does not help. We look for rust at every visit and show you what we find.

Crankshaft position sensor

The crank sensor tells the computer how fast the engine turns. When it fails, the car cranks but will not start. It often acts up when hot. We test it and replace it.

Balance shaft gear wear

Some V6 engines from the mid 2000s wear the balance shaft gear. That sets timing codes and a check engine light. We read the codes and explain what they mean.

★★★★★

Being a single woman in Athens, I did not feel like I was being taken advantage of like I have at most other repair shops. They were polite, courteous and respectful. After checking prices I found they were least expensive for what I had done. I am very pleased and will definitely be a return customer.

Questions people ask

Mercedes-Benz repair FAQ

Do you work on Mercedes-Benz in Athens?

Yes. Mercedes-Benz is one of the top brands we see at Athens Import Auto Repair in Athens, GA. We work on C-Class, E-Class, GLE, ML and more. Sedans, wagons and SUVs are all welcome.

Why does my Mercedes-Benz sag on one side?

One air strut is leaking. Airmatic suspension holds the car up with air. When a strut leaks, that corner drops. We replace the strut and check the compressor.

My Mercedes-Benz is stuck in one gear. What is wrong?

Most often it is the conductor plate in the 7-speed transmission. That plate holds the speed sensors. When one fails, the car goes into limp mode. We can test it and replace it.

Why does my Mercedes-Benz smell like burning oil?

The oil cooler seals are a common cause. They leak oil onto hot parts under the intake. Valve cover gaskets can leak too. We find the source and fix it.

Can you fix a Mercedes-Benz that will not start?

Yes. We fixed an E320 with that exact problem. A crank sensor, a fuel pump or a weak battery are common causes. We test each one before we replace anything.

Do you service the air conditioning on a Mercedes-Benz?

Yes. We check for leaks, test the compressor and recharge the system. Many models also have a cabin filter that needs a change. We can do that at the same visit.
