Audi service in Athens, from people who know the brand
Audi engines are smart and strong. But the 2.0T and the V6 have a few weak spots. We know them all. Our owner James Miner is an ASE Master Technician with more than 50 years on imports.
An Audi came to us once with both coolant and oil leaks. We found every source and fixed each one. Drive in from Watkinsville, Oconee County or the UGA area. We are on Winterville Road near Lexington Road.
Models we see most
Common Audi problems we fix
Timing chain tensioner
The timing chain links the top and bottom of the engine. Older 2.0T engines had a weak tensioner. If it lets go, the chain can skip and bend valves. A rattle on cold start is the warning sign.
Water pump and thermostat
On many Audi engines the water pump and thermostat share one housing. The plastic housing cracks and leaks coolant. You may notice a sweet smell after a drive. We replace the whole unit.
Carbon buildup
Audi engines spray fuel right into the cylinder. Nothing washes the intake valves. Carbon piles up and the engine runs rough. We clean the valves and bring the power back.
Coolant flange leaks
The coolant flange is a plastic fitting on the side of the engine. It gets brittle and weeps coolant. A small drip turns into a big one. We replace the flange and the seal.
Oil consumption
Some Audi 2.0T engines from 2009 to 2012 burn oil. The piston rings let oil slip past. We can measure how much oil your engine uses. Then we talk through your options.
Worn control arms
Audi front ends use many control arms. The rubber bushings wear and the car feels loose. You may hear a clunk over bumps. We replace the worn arms and align the car.

Scott, J., customerAudi repair FAQ
Do you work on Audi in Athens?
Yes. Athens Import Auto Repair works on Audi cars and SUVs in Athens, GA. A4, A6, Q5, Q7 and S models all come through our shop. We have the right scan tool for Audi.
What does a rattle on cold start mean on my Audi?
It often means the timing chain tensioner is weak. The chain goes loose for a second and rattles. Do not ignore it. A skipped chain can wreck the engine.
Why is my Audi losing coolant?
A cracked plastic part is the usual cause. The water pump housing, thermostat housing or coolant flange leaks on many Audi engines. We pressure test the system and find the leak.
What is carbon buildup on an Audi engine?
Carbon buildup is a black crust on the intake valves. It forms because direct injection does not wash the valves with fuel. It causes rough idle and lost power. We clean it off.
Do you service Audi quattro all wheel drive?
Yes. Quattro is the Audi all wheel drive system. It needs fresh fluid in the center and rear differentials on time. We service both.
Can you replace the timing chain on my Audi?
Yes. We replace timing chains, guides and tensioners on Audi 2.0T and V6 engines. It is a big job. We do it right the first time.
