Where is Athens Import Auto Repair?
We are at 835 Winterville Rd, Athens, GA 30605. That is on the east side of Athens near Athens Ben Epps Airport, off Lexington Road.
What are your hours?
Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Closed Saturday and Sunday.
Who is the owner?
James Miner. He is an ASE Master Technician. He has worked on foreign cars since 1972. The shop has been in Athens since 1991.
Do you only work on imports?
Yes. Imports only. German, Japanese, British, Swedish, Italian and Korean brands.
Are you BBB accredited?
Yes. BBB Accredited with an A+ rating.
What payment do you take?
Cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
Do you give estimates before the work?
Yes, always. You get an itemized parts and labor estimate. Nothing starts until you approve it.
Are you cheaper than the dealer?
Customers often tell us we are. We charge a fair price for the right repair. We do not add work you do not need.
Can you give me a price over the phone?
We can give you a general idea. For a real number we need to see the car. That keeps the price honest.
Do you charge to look at my car?
Finding a problem takes time and the right tools. Call 706-353-3880 and we will explain how we handle diagnostic time before you come in.
Can you diagnose a check engine light?
Yes. We read the code and then test to find the real cause. We fix the cause, not just the code.
Do you do oil changes?
Yes. We use the oil spec your maker calls for. European cars need specific oils, and we stock them.
Do you rebuild transmissions?
No. We do not rebuild transmissions or engines. We repair them, and when a unit is too worn we replace it. We tell you which one makes sense.
Do you fix AC?
Yes. We find leaks, replace parts and recharge the system with the right gas for your car.
Do you do pre-purchase inspections?
Yes. We check the car top to bottom, test drive it and give you a written report before you buy.
Do you work on classic imports?
Yes. Porsche 944, old Land Cruisers, older Mercedes-Benz and BMW. We enjoy them.
Do you work on American cars?
No. We work on imports only. That focus is why we know these cars so well.
Is there anything you do not do?
Yes. We do not do windshields, body work, alignments or tires. We do not replace mufflers. And we do not rebuild engines or transmissions. We repair them or replace them.
Do you program car computers?
We program certain models of cars. Call 706-353-3880 with your year and model and we will tell you if we can do yours.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. Most repairs come with a 6 month, unlimited mile warranty. Ask about your job when you book.
What is your most popular service?
Factory scheduled maintenance. We follow the factory checklist for your car at 15,000, 30,000, 60,000 and 90,000 miles. It is the best way to keep an import healthy.
Do I need an appointment?
It is best. Call 706-353-3880. We will plan for your car.
Can I wait while you work on my car?
For short jobs, yes. For bigger jobs, plan to leave the car. We will call when it is ready.
Can my parents call about my car if I am a student?
Yes. We talk with out-of-town parents all the time. We will explain the work and the price to them.
Will using your shop void my factory coverage?
No. Federal law lets you use any qualified shop. Keep your records. We give you clear paperwork.
